NEW: The Ford government is now raising doubts about the effectiveness of the Pfizer vaccine, citing a study out of Qatar that said partial immunization provides 30% protection against the U.K. variant.

The study also says that the Pfizer vaccine is highly effective in preventing the worst outcomes including pneumonia and death resulting from the U.K. variant.

Ontario delayed second doses by up to 4 months, despite Pfizer's updated recommendation about a 21 day interval between doses.
"The safety and efficacy of the vaccine has not been evaluated on different dosing schedules," Pfizer said in March.
