This has been a huge factor in the past for me because a lot of what I wanted and needed to discuss with a therapist involved race. And this: 2/
I eventually did find a white therapist who I could work with and after seeing her a couple of times she shared that she had a non-white daughter in law. That made things make sense because she didn't look at me like deer in headlights like prior people had in re: race 3/
Telehealth is helping to address this but the profession at large needs to do its part to ensure that they can treat diverse patients and not dismiss the role race plays in why we seek therapy in the first place 4/4
