MP @Tejasvi_Surya's expose of BBMP Bed allocation scam has already resulted in 17 arrests so far by B'luru Police.

A big mafia run by top hospitals, BBMP officials & private agents has come to light.

A fact-based account of what exactly ensued in last 3 days. Thread.

Upon complaints of irregularities in bed allocation by BBMP, MP’s office has looked into 1lakh+ bed allocations made by BBMP over past few weeks & found the following:

- That 4000+ beds were allocated to asymptomatic, home quarantined patients who never requested for any bed.

-That BBMP war room had been booking multiple beds under same BU number, sometimes as many as 12 beds for same patient, & creating an artificial shortage of beds.

While such patients had no knowledge of allocation, same bed was "sold" in black market for as high as Rs 80K/bed

-That there was a clear pattern of allocation & admission in few big hospitals, repeatedly happening during wee hours of midnight

12:01:00 AM - Bed Allotted
12:01:30 AM - Patient admitted

Naturally, BBMP website always showed "0" available beds.

A fake SOS request was put out by the team requesting a bed and in no time, an agent contacted the team offering a bed in exchange of Rs 25K.

GPay transfer was done and voila, bed got allocated while BBMP website was still showing 0 available beds.

The scam was unearthed.

Since MP’s visit to BBMP war room exposing the scam & subsequent investigation by Police, 17 additional arrests have taken place proving @Tejasvi_Surya's expose.

Karnataka's Lokayukta too has taken suo moto cognizance and is investigating 31 officers.

Among the arrested are Doctors & Data Entry Operators from BBMP, Nodal Officers, PROs from several big hospitals & personnel from medium to small sized hospitals in the city. Few more have been absconding.

CCB has raided 4 war rooms & confiscated crucial documents.

Since the expose, more beds have become available for needy patients and is reported by media and volunteer groups working in the city.

Meanwhile @Tejasvi_Surya has proceeded to fix the bed allocation software "within 100-hours", with help from @NandanNilekani & his team of experts.

As we speak, the software is being rebuilt to deny any manual intervention & out-of-turn allocation of govt quota beds.

On attempts by Cong to paint a communal picture to this expose, Joint Commissioner has made it clear that the 17 names read out by MP were sacked from duty 2 days before expose broke out.

During his visit, MP merely questioned their hiring process and associated agency.

Its now beyond doubt that MP unearthed a major scandal, that has ruffled those involved and they are now on an overdrive to tarnish MP’s image with their usual tirades.
