The irony of the "back to work" and productivity discourse is that my ability to cram more work into my day is precisely because I don't have a commute and don't move from this desk.

The pandemic and tech industry has made it possible to make the workday even more optimized so that I am booked in back to back meetings from the moment I roll out of bed until I force myself to log off at five.

All the "defensive scheduling" in the world doesn't mean that I can't be double and triple booked with additional work and deadlines and chat notifications on top of emails and voice chats and zoom meetings.
