If you think the food is bad, wait until you hear how they treat their workers.

I worked there years ago and it was one of the worst jobs I& #39;ve ever had. They literally took thousands of pounds off us through a "company charge", we had no breaks on 8hr+ shifts...

So they would make us pay this "company charge" where we had to pay them 3% of what we *sold* each shift (ie food and drink). So on a busy night, if I sold £1500 worth of goods, I would owe them £45 out of tips. If I didn& #39;t have enough tips, I would have to pay out of pocket!!
Sexual harassment was also a pretty common theme. One manager used to mime wanking in front of the female employees when he was wiping bottles and the chefs were unbelievably abusive towards the waitresses. One KP verbally abused my colleague
Shifts were 8hr+ and there were no breaks. We were allowed to have a drink of water in the kitchen but that was it. When I asked why we didn& #39;t have breaks, a manager said "we legally don& #39;t have to give you them"
If a table tried to dine and dash, they told us we had to chase down the customers. As a fairly slim teenage girl, the choice between putting myself in harms way or paying £££ was not a pleasant one.
The stress of working there, the lack of breaks and being watched by up to *4* managers at a time made for a very stressful workplace. I wasn& #39;t very well at the time and I would frequently have to run to the bathroom to be sick. Once a manager chastised me for it.
Also they used to make us "spontaneously" sing 3 Little Birds when it came over the speakers. In a Caribbean restaurant staffed almost entirely by white people this was...incredibly embarrassing.
This was years ago, I was a teenager and not in a union. If I worked there now, I would have taken them to fucking task.

Don& #39;t put up with any of it. Join a union today. https://www.tuc.org.uk/joinunion ">https://www.tuc.org.uk/joinunion...

This has actually made me think a lot about the level of harassment directed from chefs to waitresses & how it is just accepted as "part of restaurant culture".

Harassment in any workplace is unacceptable. Join @FairHospitality today!
