Do academics know that a very large chunk of people with "office jobs" do not sit down and "work" for 40 hours / week and actually spend time goofing off and shopping online and talking to their coworkers?
I interned in a PR office on my uni campus my senior year and let me tell you -- those people were not nose to grindstone for 40 hours each week. Love that for them.
Graduate students: if you are actually working 40-60 hours / week, like reading writing working that much, you are working more hours than people who work office jobs, period. Stop feeling bad for "only working 40 hours each week"
