“I found your resume online are you interested in a job”

What’ position and is it contract, contract to hire or direct hire

“A direct hire here in DC”

What’s the pay range for the position

“Well I actually need to ask you about your experience first”

You have my resume…
“Well is now a good time to talk so I can ask the questions and determine your experience?”

You didn’t answer my question about pay range.

“Well I have to ask the questions first”

No you can give me a range based on minimum experience to over qualified for the position…
“Well can I ask the questions now?”

…..no I’m actually at work how about you send me the job description in email and I can respond from I’m available.

“Ok great I have your email as _____ “

Yup that’s it!
*receives email*

So I had a chance to review the email and based on my work experience and certifications I feel I would be more than qualified for the position, what is the total compensation package for this role in comparison to the local market average
And now I finally got a pay range, moral of the story never let recruiters side step your question or control the convo. They reached out to you because they thought you were qualified for a position use your bargaining power and cut through the bs.
