Lots of strawmanning in the past 24 hours that a vaccine IP waiver is a horrible *substitute* for spending gobs more money on global vaccine rollout.

I haven't seen anyone (in the Biden admin or beyond) suggest that trade-off, which I agree would be bad.
On the contrary, I take the administration's announcement yesterday as a sign they are finally getting serious about the global vaccine response, and more actions are *more* likely to follow than before.
And if you're in the camp that thinks IP is irrelevant to our current vaccine shortage, then great. They've just neutralized that issue. Let's move on to debating how to relieve other putatively more binding constraints.
