Even if they are, which is debatable but let's just go with it, then they should know better than rely on memory. If it's important to you, you create a system to help you remember. It's not a memory problem, it's a priority problem. https://twitter.com/ImohUmoren/status/1390007084696182784
My ADHD brain is hard wired not to remember things. I'm not trying not to remember, I just have difficulty remembering. So I write everything down. Put everything in my calendar. So let's say there's even a deficit, does it excuse dropping the (glass) ball (that parenting is)?
You can "that's just the way I am" through pretty much anything. Especially if that's how you're socialized and society supports and enables your behavior. Or you can hold yourself to a higher standard and commit to doing better when you know better.
Put it in your calendar. Make an effort. Show up. Be present. Do better than your parents did for you. Commit to being the best version of yourself possible. It's work. You're not going to get it right all the time. But you'll do your best. You sef, you'll be proud of yourself.
Look around, there's many many men doing better. It's so great to see. The next generation will now be an improvement on that?!!!
Hook. It.
