When people criticize the nuclear family, they’re not saying men are useless or that you need to be poly or queer lol.
They’re saying the model of two parents and their kids being *everything* for each other is bad.
They’re saying the model of two parents and their kids being *everything* for each other is bad.
And straight cis women/men... not having a nuclear family will actually be much better for your relationship! The strains of having no strong community or familial support — even if you don’t have kids — is extremely hard on relationships. What if one of you becomes disabled?
Simply put, we should all strive to have community and family involved in our relationships and childrens’ lives as much as possible, in ways that go beyond playdates and dinners. This helps everyone, especially women with children!
Don’t get all defensive about it unless you’re researched what it means and why letting the *idea* of it go might make you a lot happier.
