Some basic, but crucially important parenting advice for both parents (thread): as soon as a woman *wants* to get pregnant, she should start taking prenatal vitamins with fish oil and DHA. The fish oil/DHA helps early brain growth. Early brain development is the #1 priority
Bc the brain stops growing and forming new neuronal connections in the early 20s, and getting a late start with support of its development sets children behind in devastating ways. DHA/fish oil helps the brain grow bc neurons are sheathed in fat and the oil from fish is the most
...readily accessible form of fat bc its liquid at room temperature and requires no extra metabolism to maintain and utilize, therefore less of it is excreted as unusable waste. The fish oil is not as effective without the added DHA! Do not skimp on price you must buy the...
...expensive brands, MOST VITAMINS ARE A SCAM. Buy Solgar, Gaia, Garden of Life, and a few others.
You cannot get enough fish oil/DHA from your diet, you must take supplements daily, and continue them while breast feeding

Next: you must breastfeed.
Next: while still in the womb, talk to the baby, sing to it, read to it. The father *must* do this, get right down and read him or her stories, I read Winnie the Pooh to both my kids. This also helps form neuronal connections & frontal lobe development

...and enhances bonding. Once the baby is born, immediately put it on the mothers breasts and lay a blanket over them. The baby will often instinctually seek out the nipple. Guide it if need be. Dad, this is *your* job...
...I took my wife’s nipple and pinched it to make it protrude, took my daughters head, pushed it gently onto the nipple with her mouth over it, and soon enough she began to suckle and fell asleep. No fingers or pacifiers, ever, when the baby is little enough to....
....spontaneously suckle the air, only give it the nipple. Next, learn to swaddle, and tightly. Dads, you need to learn this. In the first 3 months the baby should be with mom 100% of the time, but all that care is exhausting, & one of your jobs is to put baby to sleep...
...sometimes. Learning to swaddle them tightly is the best and easiest way to get them to sleep, they feel they are still in the womb this way. If you’re trying to put baby to sleep, hold it high up on your chest and hum, the vibrations soothe them and also help with bonding.
This gets into the “two genders” thing, they need to hear moms coping soothing voice but also fathers protective and secure deeper voice. On this note, make direct eye contact with your baby and speak in full sentences using regular English, not gibberish.
Obv this teaches the language but it has a much more important effect; it helps them focus and bond with the speaker, it’s the eye contact, tone, and cadence that matters. This enhances neuronal connections, as does all bonding, tho it becomes more important after 4th trimester..
...the first 3 moths should be considered “4th trimester” bc baby is not done developing basic senses, especially frontal lobe.
This was mostly advice for dads but moms must take fish oil/dha and breastfeed. Sorry if you don’t like it, it’s only crucial for 3 months!

*cooing, soothing voice. A lot of this is intuitive but we have lost our connections to tradition and it needs to be taught to parents, or reinforced, especially if they are young parents
