In opening speech at Petersberg Climate Dialogue, Germany's Chancellor Angel Merkel did not make a new increased commitment on German climate finance, disappointing expectations #PCD12 #climatefinance

On a more positive note, Merkel said she and UK PM have agreed to start working on a post-2025 #climatefinance goal, and it will be discussed at #COP26 (note to selves, must meet 2020-2025 goal of $100 billion a year first!)

Merkel also said that while industrialised countries have huge holes in their budgets due to the pandemic, they should not relent on their international responsibilities or make cuts to development aid, funding for climate protection and contributions to multilateral orgs #PCD12
