THE STORY OF NIGERIA

Hausa, Igbo & Yoruba didn't know each other before now, we were different people far from one another. It was during the scramble for Africa that slavery was abolished(in 1807) so that the Europeans & the Americans could use Lagos (because of its ports &
proximity to international waters) to export raw materials like palm oil which served as lubricants for engines.
The whites saw that the only way to successfully do this was to bring us together as one under indirect rule. Before this big decision, the Oba Akitoye of Lagos in
the year 1841 was crowned but another guy, Oba Kosoko (who believed he was the rightful king) protested against this. In 1845, Kosoko forcefully removed Akitoye, crowned himself king & sent Akitoye into exile.
Akitoye contacted the British saying he would allow them access to the land's raw materials & exclusive access to the region provided they would help him get his throne back.
Oba Ibikunle Akitoye.

The British acknowledged him, the battled between the allied forces of Akitoye & the British v Oba Kosoko is known as "Ogun Agidingbi" (the boiling battle), in which the British drastically destroyed Oba Kosoko & his army of 5,000 men reinstalled Akitoye as the king of Lagos.
As agreed, Akitoye granted the British & their citizens access to Lagos & abolished slavery in the region. Akitoye died 2 years later & his son Oba Dosunmu was forced to sign an agreement that turned Lagos into a British colony (property).
Oba Adedoyin Temiyemi Dosunmu.
Now, in 1884, there was a Berlin conference. This was when the world powers sat down, divided Africa (Nigeria in inclusion) amongst themselves for exploration &exploitation.Sir George Tubman Goldie of the Royal Niger Company was assigned to secure the place known as Nigeria today.
After about 40 years of battles all over, Tubman had successfully forced local leaders in the North, East, West & Southern Nigeria to sign & give him over 400 agreement documents (treaties) stating their surrender & allegiance to the Royal Niger Company.
The Royal Niger company became the official government of the region you know as Nigeria today.
On the 1st of January, year 1900, the Royal Niger company transfered power over the region know as Nigeria today to the British fully for a sum of £865,000. Yes, we were sold!
Please note that the Royal Niger Company still exists till date disguising as what you know as Unilever PLC- the company behind products like Lipton, Vaseline, CloseUp, Pepsodent, etc.
Sir George Tubman Goldie
"Founder of Nigeria"
Recognizing how big this region is, the British then divided it into the Northern & Southern protectorate. The North was made up majorly of Muslims & the south Christians. The British made so much loss in the north because they didn't embrace western education, they resisted it
& they had little to no resources. In the south, it was a boom for the British. By the time 1% of the north got educated, 19% of the Igbos were already well schooled & 35% of Yorubas were educated.
Now, in a bid to make up for the loss they made in the North, and because he had bosses in the UK he was answering to, the British High Commissioner, Lord Frederick Lugard thought it would be a great idea to merge the north & southern protectorates as one.
This gave birth to the amalgamation (joining) in the year 1914. This was the official birth of the place you know as the Federal Republic of Nigeria today.
Lord, Baron 1, Frederick Lugard.
Nigeria wasn't suppose to be born, it was a ponzi scheme to the benefit of the British & a mythical homeland of the Nigerian people. In short, Nigeria can be defined as a corporate entity formed to ensure the profitable exploitation
of the natural resources in the geographical area that surrounds the Niger River.

Nigeria is a Frankenstein creation of the greed of the British & of ours too.
