Alternate tweet: AZ bill threatens teachers with steep penalties for teaching facts. https://twitter.com/azcentral/status/1390135480692445186
Omitting uncomfortable truths or creating false equivalencies does not reflect reality and results in an incomplete and ultimately harmful education.

Teaching with sensitivity to the discomfort this creates is not bias and does not require eliminating essential discussions.
How they twist antidiscrimination into discrimination:

“We cannot allow children in our public schools to be taught that they are not created equal, that their skin color, ethnicity or sex somehow determines their CHARACTER or ACTIONS," [AZ Rep. Udall] said. (emphasis mine)
Race conscious and anti discrimination curriculum that teaches that those personal characteristics influence one’s EXPERIENCES is being deliberately confused with being taught as dubious determinants of CHARACTER or ACTIONS.
“Other provisions of the bill would bar discussions that would make anyone feel guilt, anguish or any psychological distress on the basis of their race, sex or ethnicity” ...

Yeah. Good luck with that.
