1 A thread about WWII Facebook groups. I am a member of lots of war history and photo groups on Facebook. Some are excellent and some are not as good, but they are used by thousands of people
2 I've noticed recently that there is an increasing lack of concern about the accuracy of posts. Furthermore the people who point our errors, be it date, location, unit etc are often seen as pedantic spoilsports.
3 Once a post has received a certain number of thumbs ups and comments like:

They were such hero's (sic)
Respect
God bless them all

It seems that anyone who tries to interject with some corrections is being "disrespectful" both to those portrayed in the photo and the OP
4 When did it get this way? I remember the days of forums, where threads would progress with more and more detail being added to the point where you could file a whole thread to use as a resource
5 I completely get that "thanking veterans" and being grateful for the Allied victory is important. But not at the expense of accurate history. Does anyone else here tired of making corrections because of this?
6 I genuinely worry that too many people who read these Facebook posts just don't care about the detail. It's become all about showing off your commitment to acknowledging the "brave boys" and not about the information shared
