You can pick a niche on two axes: target customer and features. Choose your customer, and choose the feature you’ll build for them.

I believe the most impactful feature you can build first is invoicing.

It’s annoying, yet it has to get done.

Niches have riches. Take @itsjustamar's company @ZenMaid, a simple scheduling software for cleaning services.

He took one feature, scheduling, and one niche, cleaning, and has turned it into a $1.2m+ revenue biz which he’s planning to 2x this year.

Choose a niche that meets the following criteria:

1. You personally know someone who works in that niche and can go talk to them this week.

2. They aren’t well served by other tools.

E.g.
- Appliance repair
- Carpet cleaning
- Chimney sweeping
- The list goes on

Charge service providers a monthly fee. Look at comps:

ServiceTitan: No pricing on the site, only “Get Demo” – so we can assume it’s steep

Jobber: $49/mo for quoting, scheduling and invoicing

ZenMaid: $85/mo with 4 cleaners on staff

Choose a niche you know someone in. Build without anyone to talk to & you’ll solve the wrong problems.

That should get you a few early customers. Here's how to get the rest:

1. Search Google for “plumbers” (or w/e) near you. Make a spreadsheet of contact info

(or pay $30 to d7 lead finder for ~3,500 leads/day)
