Why The HeadStart Project?

Healthcare systems across the world are different - not only in terms of how medicine is practiced eg : residents pre-rounding before consultant rounds but also in terms of job roles eg: Cannulations not being a junior doctor job in many countries.
Add to this a difference in the nature of medical teams, clinical systems, health patterns etc and it is no surprise that new IMGs starting in the NHS struggle to hit the ground running.
With The HeadStart Project, we aim to introduce new IMGs to the NHS via a series of webinars- covering simple things like dresscodes and bleeps to more serious matters like how to be an effective SHO on a busy medical take.
We couldn't deny the usefulness of free FY prep courses but struggled to find something similar for IMGs. If we did, they cost a few hundred pounds and to put this in perspective 1 GBP = 102 Indian Rupees, 212 Pakistani rupees, 529 Naira.
We hope The HeadStart Project will succeed in forewarning and forearming IMGs to hit the ground running when they start and will help them focus on building portfolios, social networks and relationships essential to thrive in a foreign country that they now call home.
We were very fortunate to get support from @bipa_uk and a lovely team of IMGs such as @Paedsoftlanding and @drraja_ to run our events.
We have loads of exciting sessions coming up and have answered very important questions such as, "what the bleep is a bleep?" And hope to continue doing this.
