MITCHELLS VS THE MACHINES WAS SO FUCKING GOOD

GOD, there’s a very specific brand of artist humor and they really fucking nailed it with Katie! The little freeze frames and 2D animations are through the lens of Katie’s eyes, which adds so much character to the overall movie!

and they managed to fit so many little pop culture references, but in a way that feels quoting a weird ad you and your friends have memorized on Discord call, and not “I’m a movie doing a little nudge nudge wink wink ;^] get it?? Get it??”

I really appreciate all the little nuanced takes they had on family! And also, that they didn’t go “CELLPHONE BAD” or ACTUALLY CELLPHONE GOOD”

Also, I love that Pal was just an ascii face lol she looked like >:]

Also LGBT LEAD! they don’t hide it, it plays into the themes of Katie’s character instead of BEING the theme of her character

I really love that we can a lgbt protag in a movie that’s not about lgbt! Queer characters can just exist as characters, and not “queer” characters
