We've submitted our response to the consultation on the New Plan for Immigration.
Like the plan, the consultation is
Rushed
Misleading
Shows no signs of wanting to learn
Let's talk about what really needs to change in our asylum system. Follow and share this thread

As @pritipatel's plan passes through parliament, we need to keep using our voices, raising up people with lived experience and connecting across communities.

With 200 other organisations and over 12,000 individuals, we've signed @RefugeeAction's open letter.

And 454 immigration experts have called out the plan in a damning open letter - saying it circumvents international law and is based on assertions, not evidence.
The key point: "one cannot travel illegally if one is seeking asylum." https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/priti-patel-asylum-plan-immigration-experts-b1825024.html

The consultation is worse than inadequate, with leading questions and no regard given to lived experience.
But we submitted a response to make sure our dissent was heard. If you want to do the same, the consultation closes this evening: https://newplanforimmigration.com/

At times like this we're so grateful to be able to collaborate with inspiring and expert organisations in our sector across the UK.
@AsylumMatters, @nobordersmcr and @4refugeewomen have all shared helpful suggestions for responses to the consultation - shared below:
