Why was the southern bypass built?

1. To decongest the city and main city roads from traffic and stalled vehicles.

2. To allow transportation of DG of the city (highly flammable goods can be a big security risk.. In terrorism or just normal crashes) take lpg as an example.
3. The southern bypass is the only road within Nairobi with climbing lanes - this means considerations of slow very slow moving vehicles were factored in.
4. It is dual to factor in transportation of abnormal loads that can eat 1and
½ lanes. Many of us see space to move and move fast. That's a looming danger.
*Its also a dual carriage way to allow easy passage on stalled trucks*
4. The bypass never have bumps or should not have bumps because its already a slow moving traffic zone.

5. Speeds of vehicles using the bypass

A. Abnormal loads 25kph to 40kph.

B. Tankers and petroleum products 50kph to 65kph( regulated by vivoenergy)
C. Normal trucks and containers 70kph to 80kph.

Then the speed limits are 100 to 110kph.

6. They bypass never have roundabouts to east maneuvers for big and heavy trucks.
7. It cuts across a natural habitat with about 3 to 4 different weather patterns at the same time. (the 29.7km stretch cuts across hills, and a plain. This makes it a very dangerous road to ever use by speeding drivers)
8. The 4 different sudden weather change is under temporary hazards. At one point its dangerously foggy, the next few kms its sunshine, then next few kms its drizzling and all these are changing fast and the slow speed is the best for it all.
With such intel.. Any sensible driver can use the southern bypass but with a lot of caution.

If you read about the standardisation of road use the Ntsa adviced that certain vehicles cc should be drived by certain ages.
Eg. 1300 cc and below should be 23yrs and below

1500cc 24yrs to 26yrs

1800 to 2000cc 27yrs to 30yrs.

3000cc and above 31yrs and above.

This never made sense to so many but as an expert it really does.
