Just voted @theSNP for the first time ever in my life. As an ex staunch @ScotTories voter and member for years (my family as well), I was also a NO voter in 2014 and I am ashamed I have supported and trusted them for so long. How could I have been so blind? /1
I believe it was more about family. My dad, English, Unionist to his core, War Vet. He used to tell us stories about how the Union was worth fighting for and how we should protect them just like him and his friends fought for. Today he thinks otherwise - so does the whole family.
Today, all of us (We are 15 total) are voting @theSNP. You would perhaps want to ask me why? Sure thing. The Union isn't working in Scotland anymore. Can you even call this an Union when all they do is treat us with contempt and when devolution isn't working for the good of us.
In 2014 I truly believed Independence would be lethal for Scotland. That we would be left to rot and no one would come help us. The only one willing to help us was the Union. I believed in all the lies spouted by @ScotTories and the promises they made. How naive I was. We were.
I feel renewed today. I voted for a party that I thought I would never vote in my whole life. But it is @theSNP who will bring us Independence which is something we need badly. We need away from Westminster and we need to help Scotland recover. We can do it.
Independence will bring us the opportunity to grow stronger, better and unshackled from Westminster. Sure there are a lot of questions still to be answered and a lot more to be worked on. But I honestly believe an independent Scotland will thrive. It is the way. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
Today, vote for the party that will definitely bring a better future to you and your kids and grandkids. Vote @theSNP #BothVotesSNP #indyref2
