Taking risks on emerging technology is not a bad thing, the jetpack thing from the RM and Gravity Industries is a good example of this done right in my view. Now we know it won't go forward just yet, we all can look at it and see the downsides, none of us are stupid

The RM committed a relatively small amount of resource to test the concept in a controlled manner in realistic scenarios. They experimented, and this is the most important thing, they ignored the naysayers and gave it a go. Nothing is more important than that

So although the concept is not ready just yet, they arrived at that conclusion by doing, and this is a good thing. A spot of good publicity as a by-product is a plus point as well.

Enjoy your 'told you so' moment, but at least try and understand technology risk

PS

None was more sceptical than me, but that is not the point, we should never knock people for trying new things to confirm a positive or negative view
