this transition from the last track of negentropy, so let’s love, to for me, the first track of gravity, is excellent.

they’re in the same key (g major), but what’s significant about it is that “for me” resolves the unresolved end of “so let’s love”. explanations below: (1/6)
this might get a bit technical so i’ll do my best to simplify it, but please ask questions if you’re confused!

“so let’s love” ends on a d-sus4 chord. but what’s important here is that it’s a ‘d’ chord. the d chord here is the 5th degree, or dominant, of the g major scale. (2/6)
without getting *too* complicated, the dominant is often described as having a pull towards the tonic, or the 1st degree of the scale. here, this is ‘g’, which is the key which both songs are in.

when the dominant resolves to the tonic, this is known as a perfect (3/6)
cadence. a perfect cadence is often used in music to signify the end of a phrase or piece. this is because it creates a resolute, complete sound. it resolves the ‘tension’ if you will, of the dominant.

this is significant as “for me” begins on the tonic g (4/6)
which resolves the tension that the ending of “so let’s love” has. and this brings us back to the whole infinity symbol!

the end and start of the tbou series are connected in such a way which creates this possibility to loop the entire tbou series infinitely. because (5/6)
“for me” resolves that lingering tension that “so let’s love” has. it completes it.

day6 are truly geniuses. this absolutely BLOWS my mind. idk why i didn’t catch onto this earlier BUT it was too genius i had to share nshsgaf (6/6)
another thing i wanted to add (seeing as this blew up!): the genius of the unresolved ending of so let’s love is genius because not only does it take us back to gravity (representing human cycles + the infinity symbol), it also opens up the opportunity for one (be it the listener
or even the artist themselves) to create a new beginning / ending, perhaps representing the starting afresh, and the shift to a new chapter. so take it as you will ;;; i hope this thread made sense !!
