What do I put in my art portfolio to get a job in the animation industry?

1. find multiple job postings for the title (different studios/projects ok)
2. make a list of the objective, required skills
3. the more often a skill is mentioned, the more important it is to show

(1/3)
another method:

1. watch the credits of multiple shows for artists that did the job you want
2. find their portfolio and make a list of what objective skills they're showing
3. the more often a skill is shown, the more important it is to also show in your own portfolio

(2/3)
most animation jobs have pretty straightforward, explicit requirements that many applicants overlook (e.g. turnarounds for character design). you may have these skills, but if you don't SHOW them, recruiters can't just take your word for it - esp if you're just starting out (3/3)
