Sachin Tendulkar - The Bowler [A THREAD]
India vs SA (SF) 1993. SA were needing 6 runs from the final over with 2 wickets in hand. Azhar gave the ball to SRT who haven’t bowled in that game till then. Tendulkar conceded mere 3 runs and won the game by 2 runs.
Tendulkar again defended 6 runs in the final over. This time against Australia and Tendulkar was himself the captain this time. He is the only bowler to defend 6 runs twice in ODIs.
Tendulkar’s bowling did another wonder during the Historic Kolkata Test vs Australia in 2001. Australia were five down when Ganguly gave the ball to Sachin. Sachin made the most of this opportunity and dismissed Hayden, Gilchrist & Warne in span of 13 balls!
Sachin has 2 five-fers in ODIs. His first one came against Australia at Kochi in 1998. His figures were 5/32 (10) and the wickets included Bevan, Steve Waugh, Lehmann, Moody & Martyn. He was adjudged MOTM for his match winning performance.
His second five-fer also came at Kochi, this time against arch-rivals Pakistan. His figures were 5/50 (10). Wickets includes Inzamam, Hafeez, Razzaq, Afridi & Sami. India won the game conformably.
