#ActuallyAutistic people, especially AFAB people and women:

You are not "really annoying."
You are not a "know it all."

It is not okay to make fun of autistic-coded characters, and negatively label common autistic traits because the character "isn't specified as autistic." 1/2 https://twitter.com/xoxogossipgita/status/1390033758536019972
This is exactly why I want characters that are autistic in films & TV to be recognized as such by the people who create them.

Tweets like this give abled people a green light to use these terms against anyone that fits the description & it will be (open or not) autistic people
Within the autistic community, at least to my knowledge, it is well known that Hermione has a lot of autistic traits (whether or not she's autistic or not, personally I definitely thought she was).

It's mind-boggling to me that people rationalize this away with "but no one said"
It doesn't really matter whether it was publicly stated that Hermione is autistic.

What matters is that autistic people have been called know-it-alls so commonly in their lives when they are simply trying to survive in neurotypical society.

& this shames them. That's not okay.
I don't think it's shameful to raise your hand in class all the time when you know the answer.

I don't think it's shameful to talk about your interests a lot because you're passionate about them.

I don't think it's shameful to try to teach people how to do things better.
That's what we're telling people when there's a critique of a fictional character like this. That it's not okay to be those things. To be a "know-it-all."
Autistic people aren't know-it-alls.

We're literally just autistic.

And if Hermione was openly labeled as autistic I don't think that tweet would be seen as okay by the general public.

And that is what frustrates me.
It didn't matter that I was an undiagnosed autistic person and "no one knew" (I mean really no one knew) I was autistic.

People still bullied me for How I Was and for how I interacted within society.

Not having that label doesn't give you a free pass to make fun of it.
