For context, over 1000 Colombian students abroad came together to reject the acts of violence and the human rights violations occurring right now and call on the international community to condemn this situation.

A tax reform supposed to alleviate the economic crisis in which the country is, partly because of the pandemic, was the last thing that was needed for the situation to boil. https://www.nytimes.com/2021/05/03/world/colombia-backs-off-pandemic-tax-overhaul-after-deadly-protests.html
This reform, as you might imagine, overly taxed those who have less and put most of the country in a worse situation than before. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-latin-america-56970028
Added to that, the country had been experiencing a prevalence of massacres, murder and violence against social justice leaders, the never-ending corruption, and OF COURSE the #COVID19 pandemic. Which, has not been contained and is far from being so.
The country has vaccinated about 5.589.123 with the first dose #Covid19Vaccine and 1.973.950 with the second, out of approx. 48 million (May4th).
The health personnel is doing their absolute BEST, but there is just so much inequality that it takes a huge toll to speed this up.
