1) Liz Cheney is doing all of this to set up her 2024 presidential run. The GOP is only pushing back against her out of fear that Trump will lash out at them and cost them votes heading into 2022. Beyond that there’s very little at stake for the rest of us. Almost a non-story.

2) The GOP isn’t going to be crossing some new line, or gaining new fascist magical powers, or turning us into a dictatorship, or any of the other hysterical mouth foaming coming from pundits, if it ousts Cheney from her leadership role. That’s all just ratings-driven hyperbole.

3) Nor does Cheney give a damn if she loses her current position as third highest ranking member of the minority party in the House. That’s basically a participation trophy for someone with her ambition. There just aren’t any real stakes here for anyone or any side.

4) Trump is 100% finished, whether Cheney is ousted or not. Everyone in the GOP knows Trump is finished. Most of them are just afraid he’ll lash out and hurt them, which is all he has left. His life is over, but he can take some republicans down with him.

5) If Liz Cheney manages to sow division within the GOP, great, it’ll help us a bit in 2022 and 2024. If the GOP bloodies up Cheney, great, it’ll make it harder for her when she runs in 2024 on her platform of evil policies (and yes, she’s very much pure evil).

6) But beyond Cheney and the current GOP leadership weakening each other a bit, there’s really no story here. The GOP is still more focused on bowing down to a mostly dead loser, than on trying to win anything. Which is the real story here for the rest of us.

7) So if you want to root for Liz Cheney to beat up Kevin McCarthy, go for it. Any damage to any high profile GOP figure is good news for us. But don’t forget Cheney is a bigoted warmongering extremist who lies about Biden constantly. You’ll be rooting hard against her by 2024.
