2. Ending support is a complex and delicate process for both young people and clinicians, especially with young people who are not improving. When outcomes did not improve, young people reported that a poor experience of ending treatment exacerbated mental health difficulties.
3. Recommendations for practice are that services establish ways of working that allow clinicians greater flexibility in responding to more challenging endings and embedding reflective practice into ways of working to support clinicians during difficult endings.
