There is literally zero evidence in the Quraan that a woman can’t fast on her period. If you are too tired to fast then sure go ahead and eat, but if you feel like you can fast then their is no reason why you shouldn’t.

Many scholars discussed this issue before. https://twitter.com/naa1la/status/1389573955233660930
The main source of legislation in Islam is the Quraan. The verses on Ramadan/fasting in surat Al Baqara (183 to 185) has no mention at all that a woman on her period cannot fast. The verse mentions two cases in which you can break your fast: “sick or on a journey”.
If a woman feels sick and unable to fast on her period then she can do so based on the fact that she is “sick”...and God has given permission for one to break their fast if they are sick under the condition that “one shall then (fast) the same number of other days”
There is not even one verse or hadith that impose fasting on women on their periods, nor there is a verse or hadith that prohibits women on their period from fasting. It is completely up to them to do whatever feels more comfortable.
What is “haram” would be men scholars forcing women to break their fast with “fatwas” claiming that their fast is not accepted on their period.

God has warned us: “These are the limits set by Allah, so do not go near them”
The issue of stigmatizing women with "impurity" during menstruation is because early Muslims were influenced by the Qur'anic references to the Jews who had the idea of the impurity of the menstruating woman and women postpartum.
This idea was negated by the Qur’an through Virgin Mary who did fast immediately after giving birth. In fact, the Quraan only referred to “period blood” as “harmful” أذى..and never used the word نجاسة
That most frequent evidence used by Al Azhar that fasting during period is haram is a hadith in al-Bukhari and a Muslim that was quoted from the Messenger of God, which is “deficient in intelligence and religion ..”,
I reject this hadith altogether and in detail, not only because it contradicts the Qur’an honoring women in countless places, but also because it contradicts the morals of Mohammad (pbuh), who would not insult women like this.
Basic logic: They had their period > they felt sick > they broke their fast > they had to make up for it. This completely corresponds to the verses in surat al baqara.

Now, where in the hadith does it say “we were commanded to break our fast when we menstruate”?
