Daycare costs are now almost triple what they were 20 years ago. And quite a few people had to learn the hard way that their cis male partners were actually doing nothing useful at home. Even if they had a child, who would have another one in this situation? It sounds like hell.
But let's say you do plan on kids...most people are going to wait until they know their job, health care, chances of going outside are stable. It's a pandemic. Might as well wait, make sure it isn't the Apocalypse
Also if you create a society where only the well off can afford to reproduce then you guarantee a lower birth rate. Fun fact, rich people don't tend to have large families. But even if they do? The 1% cannot reproduce at a rate that replaces the kids everyone else isn't having.
