My Carnivore Diet Experience

I have been on the carnivore diet for 2 years.

At the peak of the diet, I dropped 85→72kgs (187→158lbs).

I had no idea I had 13kgs to lose.

This is what I gained, and what I lost.

THREAD⇣
The first month: Carb withdrawal hell.

- Mental fatigue
- Prolonged minor headaches (3 days at most)
- Got tired faster during physical activity
- Frequent state of hunger
- Incessant desire to snack
After 3 months, my body transferred to the new fuel source.

Before:
- Needed 3x 350g steaks a day
- Wake up at 8am
- Falling alseep by 2pm
- Big appetite

After:
- Now need just 2x 200g steaks a day
- Wake up at 5:30am
- No more afternoon drowsiness
- Small appetite
The diet also meant no alcohol.
In consequence:
- alcohol tolerance decreased, and
- easier hangovers.

On the upside,
- spend less eating out, and
- my gf doesn't have to worry about babysitting a drunken sob after a big night out.
Eating meat everyday reset my tastebuds.

You enjoy food more. Everything tastes "deeper".

On the other hand, I can now taste bad oils, preservatives and chemicals that were previously invisible to me.
The diet changed my outlook on food.

Before: Food is entertainment.
After: Food is survival.
If you are considering this diet, steak is best.
- It's high in nutrients,
- there's no need to cook it through,
- it tastes the best. I get tired of any other meat, but never steak.
I often get asked how do I maintain. It's easier than it seems.

The biggest reason is carb withdrawal effects.

The idea of having to experience them again acts as a deterrent against breaking the diet.
