So, I promised you all a thread, and here it is:

How I make an additional monthly income of $1200 - $2000 monthly from technical writing (been doing this since February).

A THREAD https://twitter.com/_MsLinda/status/1372253333201813504">https://twitter.com/_MsLinda/...
The most common way to make money from technical writing (which most developers are aware of), is to publish articles on some organizational blogs like logrocket or smashing magazine, as a guest writer and get paid.
You pitch a topic and outline for an article, and if your pitch is accepted, you& #39;ll be given the go-ahead to write the full article and get paid, pending when the article is published.

The problem is:
1. Due to a lot of factors like the organization& #39;s content calendar direction for the month, someone else has pitched something similar, e.t.c, your pitch may not be accepted.

2. There is no guarantee that your article will be published in the same month it was submitted.
If you plan to have a steady monthly income, then you& #39;re better off writing for TECHNICAL CONTENT MARKETING AGENCIES.

These agencies produce and share technical content on behalf of other tech companies to help them gain visibility, generate leads, and maybe close sales.
Why is this a preferred method?

1. You don& #39;t need to pitch articles. The agency usually sends out a list of article topics that have been pre-approved by their client weekly. Yours is to indicate interest and have the article assigned to you.
2. Depending on your niche, schedule, and familiarity with most topics, you can write as many as 4 or 5 articles per month.

3. You& #39;ll usually be paid at the end of every month for all the articles you& #39;ve written in that month, regardless of if they& #39;ve been published or not.
4. You& #39;ll be presented with several opportunities to conduct intensive research, learn new things and write articles that are way out of your comfort zone.

Now the question is, how do you find these technical content marketing agencies?
Here are a few that I currently write for:

1. http://Draft.dev"> http://Draft.dev
2. ContentLab
3. Write for Dev
4. Hit Subscribe
5. Dev Spotlight

A little digging around on google search will yield more results.

To become a writer for these agencies, you have to apply and be approved.
Thing is, not everyone who applies will be approved.

What can you do to increase your chances of success?

You need to make sure that you have previous experience writing concise technical articles and a writing portfolio to show, either on your blog, freecodecamp, medium e.t.c
Hope this helps. That& #39;s all the tips I have. If you have any questions, ask and I& #39;ll answer them in my free time :)
