Oftentimes we ask ourselves about the extent of prisoners rights (convicted and sentenced). We ask ourselves where are these rights contained and what are these rights. It is common cause that upon being convicted and sentenced, enjoyment of rights becomes restricted or limited..
Some of these rights which become limited include; the right to liberty, freedom of movement, among others. But it is not in dispute that there are some rights which cannot be limited, as pointed out under section 86(3) of the Constitution. However, numerous questions arise....
Firstly, what does the Constitution say about rights of Prisoners. Secondly, what does the Prisons Act Cap7:11 say about rights of prisoners. Lastly, what do prisoners desire & can these desires, interests, be protected by laws in #Zimbabwe
