It& #39;s been a long day, and I& #39;m not sure I can add anything much to what& #39;s been said already about this. But here we go. I speak as an artist, and I get that choices get made every step of the way. But the choices made for the Bad Batch& #39;s skin tones are not okay. You have multiple
characters who are set apart from their brothers with "beneficial defects" and you make them ALL lighter? I& #39;m not saying there was anything nefarious about this. I honestly want to believe it was, yet again, an example of just not seeing it. But-OH MY GOSH- someone *should* have.
Someone through the long line of people who made these characters *should* have seen it. This isn& #39;t a single person making a unilateral decision which is making everyone go "Oh wow. How did that happen?" There is a line of people, and this line of people - who can create such a
variety of things-failed here. They failed with the brothers, they failed with the character we see at the start, and if you know who I& #39;m talking about, you know how wrong it is. And then there& #39;s another character we see and *again* it& #39;s a dark skinned character who is paler than
they should be. And it is frankly frustrating. I ADORE Star Wars animation. It is beautiful to look at. A lot of love has CLEARLY gone into it. But somewhere in its design process something ugly happened. And we don& #39;t point this out for the fun of it. We don& #39;t point these
things out "just to have a problem". We point these things out because we know it& #39;s easy to do. It& #39;s not some centuries long process to make sure your character& #39;s features reflect either a real person or what has come before. It doesn& #39;t take a long time to decide to put in a bit
of work to make sure your characters of colour *are actually characters of colour*.
