if all your students bombed the exam, what actually happened was *you* bombed at teaching / exam writing.

this same logic also applies any time a large group of people "fails" at something
ie, dieters don't "fail" to lose weight 95% of the time. diets are a failure of an idea
i'll soften the phrasing of this a bit, for all my very well intentioned / borderline codependent teacher friends: your teaching that day bombed. your exam bombed. you're not a failure of a person
it's REALLY funny seeing teachers get defensive and feel threatened by my use of the words "bombed" and "failed" here, yet not getting how they elicit the exact same emotions in their students constantly, except their students have zero power!!
When instructors act like they are somehow the victims of their students, in a scenario where both populations are being taken advantage of and not being given enough help.... well it reminds me of that woman who claimed her 2 year old son was "mansplaining" to her. very confused
*sinead o connor voice* fight the real enemy
