INSTANTLY feeling this. Brain journey music for my friends who like adventures untethered to stale concepts like "genre" (think I'm gonna make a little thread as I poke around bandcamp tonight so follow along if you'd like) https://howielee.bandcamp.com/album/birdy-island
And this? I clicked randomly on the bandcamp genre tag for "breaks" because I thought it meant breakcore and it IS NOT BREAKCORE but also this seems like it'd be super good for riding a mellow buzz into a blissful night. Glad to be here, thanks. https://asymetrik.bandcamp.com/album/s-o-s-charity-compilation
Now I'm perusing the 'experimental' tag and this is one of bandcamp's curated recommendations. I'm six minutes into a song and it's got a dark, predatory stomp to it. Prominent sax, but not "jazzy." It's like a bleating, droning thing. Really fascinating. https://chrispitsiokos.bandcamp.com/album/carny-cant
Jumped down to 'musique concrete' and came across this v/a compilation in which they've made two longform pieces where each artist just piggybacks off the prior artist's work to create one long seamless composition? Intrigued and instant wishlist addition. https://hothamsoundrecordings.bandcamp.com/album/the-same-river-twice
Another instant wishlist. "Free improv and collage works made up of detuned strings, household percussion, and glistening synthesizers howling from the room next door." That either speaks to you or it doesn't. I'm always here for it, personally. https://tribetapes.bandcamp.com/album/l-a-confidential
Alright. On to the genres you knew I'd visit eventually. I loved Këkht Aräkh immediately when I first heard Night & Love and I knew I'd like this too, I've just been lazy about listening to new black metal. Two songs in and I'm sold. Messy and beautiful. https://kekhtarakh.bandcamp.com/album/pale-swordsman
I'm a simple beast. I see the phrase "Gastric Phantasm" and I click on it. This is filthy death metal. The vocals are super low and weird. It's a short, gross album (EP?) and I just listened to the whole thing and dug it. Hell yeah. https://bloodharvestrecords.bandcamp.com/album/gastric-phantasm
Another instant addition. This is a solo project from a member of Depressive Silence and I love dungeon synth, so...this is a little on the bombastic side but it's done in the way I like still. https://a-spell-enraged.bandcamp.com/album/spectral-poetry-2
Anyway, I'm going to end this thread here because it's getting long and I don't want to clog the timeline. If you want to follow me on bandcamp to see the things I wishlist and the things I buy, you can do that. Lots to pick through. http://bandcamp.com/blackmetalandbrews
