🚨SPOILERS for #TheMitchellsVsTheMachines 🚨

I don't really like getting personal on my SM sites, but in this case since everybody is talking about this movie, I have to. Like many of you who saw it, I really related to the main character (as well as her brother)...

(1/?)
...however, thing that really struck me out the most was the main conflict between her and her father. I consider myself to be a private person when it comes to subject of family, but in this case I'm gonna have to come clean...

(2/?)
...just like Katie & Rick, me and my mother have had a very complicated relationship to say the least. We're pretty much polar opposites (She's more of a cosmetics/beauty enthusiast); of course we respect each other but at the same time we don't always see eye to eye...

(3/?)
...Around the beginning of the month of April, we got into an argument that almost tore us apart and I may have said some things I didn't really mean to say to her face (I don't wanna go into detail about that)...

(4/?)
... As I was watching the movie and starting to identify with Katie and around the scenes where PAL shows the footage of her telling Aaron that she's only pretending to believe in her father, and the one that followed after (pictured here), it really touched me in a way...

(5/?)
...that a handful of movies have done, along with the scene that follows where Rick watches one of the Dog Cop videos and starts to understand her feelings towards him. These scenes in particular made me think about my mom, our argument we've had...

(6/?)
... and how she thinks of herself as a parent (she's a little insecure about her role kind of like Rick); Seeing Katie and Rick go through the trials and tribulations of any parent-child bond made me search within myself and understand my mother a bit more...

(7/?)
...and view a side to her that I knew existed but never really understood well. I will say she's one of the strongest and most willing women I've ever got to known and also thank you to the filmmakers for allowing me to explore a part of myself I was kinda afraid to see.

Mike, Jeff, Phil, Chris, and anybody else who was involved in the making of the movie, I know you guys are not gonna see this thread, but I just wanna say thanks for what I said above...
