6 years ago, in the midst of heat wave ridden ramzaan, one of my cousins who was visiting from ‘abroad’ hosted an iftaar at BarBQ tonight.
My dad told him he won’t attend cause, in the second half of ramzaan, he doesn’t have the energy to drive (1/3)
And then back after iftar plus with the rising traffic this close to Eid it would be very tiring and stressful for him.
Bhai jan me suni unsuni kerdi. And when we didn’t show (as we had already RSVPed) he got pretty upset.. (2/3)
To this day, he doesn’t say salaam to my dad. Better, doesn’t respond to my dad’s (his uncle’s) salaam.
Moral of the story: Don’t be a dick. You’re young, full of energy. Try and be understanding of the older generation’s stance.
One more moral (we’re on a roll today): Ramzaan is for prayers; namaz, rozay, munajaat. Please don’t make it all about food and get togethers. And status show offs.
