#BPDAwarenessMonth

Here's a list of important, helpful resources from someone WITH BPD and not from TV crime shows that make us look like villains. 🧵

A lot of the posts will come from this website:

Are there treatments for BPD?

Yes and No. There is no magical drug to take that can make BPD go away as it's often the result of trauma or neglect. The most effective treatment is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy which requires the pwBPD to be able to work on their disorder. <c>
<c> Bc of this, pwBPD are often turned away from therapists, because many of us aren't able to work on things the same as other people. Our learned thinking is how we cope with loss, pain, etc - to abandon those learned habits opens us up to a lot of vulnerability, so we don't.
Someone with BPD has to be eager and WILLING to work on themselves to be able to learn healthier habits, but at that same time, a solid, reassuring, and sturdy support system can help them get there with time.
Here's another useful thread that breaks BPD down into slides https://twitter.com/AlsJane_therapy/status/1388450761802137600
