Exploring Big Mom's backstory. A thread

Big Mom was abandoned on Elbaf at age 5. Already a giant human. Her parents unable to raise her, apparently she was already causing devastation. The ship they're on, seems a strange mix of official and illegal by the people's attire.

Big Mom was found by Mother Caramel and invited to join the Sheep's House. A home for delinquent orphans with nowhere to call home.

Big Mom demonstrated a good nature hindered by an inability to control her power and a naivety of racial differences.

Mother Caramel understood Linlin's kind nature and encouraged it but at the same time did not discipline for her violent behaviour. We know this to be because Mother Caramel actually wanted to see what Linlin was capable of of. So that she could value her for sale to the WG.

Mother Caramel tells us in her meeting with CP0 that she has been in this business for 50 years. Meaning she started at around 30. It was 37 years before the meeting in question that she played her trick to enter Elbaf. No doubt looking to sell giant kids.

For context, the moment where Big Mom stopped the execution of the giants is around 105 years before the current timeline.

Notice how she mentions that the giant would 'yet again' wreck havoc in the world.

This could connect into the giant straw hat.

We know that for some 100s of years, the Giant Warrior Pirates ruled the seas. We knew already of Dorry and Broggy and before them came Fallbeard and Mountbeard. Both in their 300s!

It was after the fall of Dorry and Broggy that the crew collapsed and this lead to the scene of the execution in which Sister Caramel intervened.

Through this John Giant, a former member of the crew. Became the first Navy giant solider.

Sister Caramel then became know as Mother

It's said that Mother Caramel devoted her life to making a bridge of friendship between humans and giants but we know that she was trafficking kids. We also know that the World Government have been trying to create giants out of humans for centuries.

The fact that 63 years after her death, children are still being trafficked for these experiments, tells us that the network goes much deeper than just Mother Caramel herself.

Ceaser was the one doing the experiments at Punk Hazard.

Ceaser comments that Vegapunk has previously failed to produce giants from humans and said that he told him that kids need to be used.

To make this work, Ceaser uses a drug disguised as a candy.

Ironically, it's actually because of Big Mom that these new kids are suffering the same fate as she almost did, being sold into experiments. This is due to her dream, which was inspired by Mother Caramel. A world were all peoples can live at eye level without discrimination.

We know that Ceaser was taking money from Big Mom for this research but he wasted it on partying, so they came after him at Dressrosa.

The drug that Ceaser uses in his research is indentified by Chopper as NCH 10. A stimulant drug considered illegal for all those except a rare few with permission to use it. This is why Vegapunk kicked Ceaser off of the Punk Hazard team.

This is an easily missed detail but Ceaser is actually familiar with Judge and Judge is known to have worked with Vegapunk. Together they were researching the Lineage Factor.

Judge also used a stimulant drug in his experiments on his own children.

Another easily missed connection is Chopper's source of knowledge of NCH 10. He knews of it because Kureha was one of the few who had access to it.

This substance is likely contained within the Rumble Balls. An enhancing drug that temporarily turns Chopper into a giant!

Another similarity pops up when you consider the connection of candy addiction. In the case of the Punk Hazard kids, Ceaser has disguises the drug as candy. Chopper has a love for cotton candy and Big Mom suffers an addiction to sweets.

Going back a bit, we now understand that Big Mom is good natured but she suffers from naivety and selfishness, combined with a misguided approach to achieving her dream. Ironically, she is more like the evil Mother Caramel, although her intention is to be good.

Big Mom's motives and intentions are contradictory but when you separate them, it becomes apparent that she can be taught the right way to go about it and that if she learned the true of Mother Caramel, she would totally despise her!

Charlotte Linlin follows a moral code.

Big Mom has a very admirable dream but her child like nature makes her believe that only her way of doing things is acceptable. No one else could possibly achieve the goal she wants to achieve to make Mother Caramel proud.

Interestingly. There is a way that Big Mom could learn the truth of Mother Caramel in Wano and if this were to happen it would shatter her dream.

It's also interesting that Big Mom keeps on remarking about how the Straw Hats have so many interesting creatures on their crew and that so many now have a strangely friendly connection with her or similar character traits, like Nami sharing her maternal instinct.

One final observation that should be made, is that after Linlin fell into a hunger rage and destroyed Elbaf, killing Fallbeard. Mother Caramel moved Sheep's House out of Elbaf and to another island.

This island was a giant's island as well but it would later become Whole Cake!
