Thread on business models.

Today i made my Discord paid (link in bio), where as before it was free. Now this experince gave me insight into why i would be wanting to buy business that charge for their business compared to give out their products free.
One reason the free model doesnt work is people do not take it seriously and they usually take it for granted. The discord had a decent number of people but they were all inactive so there wasnt the community of traders i wanted to build.
This meant that is basically didnt work. Now that im charging its a commitemtnet for people this mean they will value it more and be more active in the longer term it will actually benifit them more even though they might not realise it.
This is becuase this will actually lead to a community of traders where we all learn faster and that £10 a month will be nothing as you will be making more than that from the knowledge you gain from an active discord.
Now the way i am planning on doing this is getting people to pay monthly and i also have an affilate program set where people can refer their friends and get a comission, this is to motivate those active memebrs to actually get their friends to join.
This will mean we eventually will have a very active discord where we all make money!!!

Now thats just my plans but how does this tie into investing you ask?

well its tells you that dont buy business that offer too many freebies.
Freebies are nice but it isnt a sustainable business model, sure you will get more people but they wont value your product and when you step back and take a look freebies actually hurt the business and the customer as the business doesnt make money
and the customer doesnt realise the true value of the product offered so they dont get the full experience they would if they paid even if that was £1, it will be more effective then it being free.
I hope you understand the message of this thread, just wanted to show my thought process behinde why i think offering a free serivice isnt a sustainable business model.
