-- BTS 'ON' MV --
Interpretation from a Biblical POV

ON Music Video is BTS' most Biblical MV to date, with many scenes having direct parallels with the Bible. Let's discuss the music video from a Biblical standpoint.

We present to you "ON: The Story of the Bible"
We start out with a battleground from the beginning of time. Jin spots a white dove, hit by an arrow & presumably dead. A dove is a symbol of peace and hope, the Holy Spirit on Jesus's shoulder. So peace is all gone from Earth, war is raging ON, and the Holy Spirit rejected.
Next we see Namjoon with a worn-down ark surrounded by animals, 2 of each. He's Noah: "You are to bring into the ark two of all living creatures, male and female" Genesis 6:19
God flooded the war-torn earth & brought NJ/Noah and his family to safety, so Noah prays in thankfulness
The way Jin cradles the dove and seems sad to see it dead, we can assume that Jin was one of Noah's faithful family members who survived the flood and took the dove on the ark with them. The dove isn't dead, as it's the same one which helped them find land later on.
Tae on the other hand is laying on the ground. Notice how the shape of his body resembles crucifixion, with the spears & feathers behind his head symbolizing Jesus's Crown of Thorns. Tae is a representation of the Savior & this scene is foreshadowing Jesus's death on the cross.
Next, we see JK running away, thorns tying up his wrists. In the Bible, thorns and shackles represent sin. So this scene symbolizes Jungkook/mankind trying to run away from sin and temptation. But unfortunately, he falls. JK's fall is a metaphor for the fall of the human race.
We're now in a forest of dead and twisted mythical-looking trees, with a fallen Jungkook on the ground. This is the Garden of Eden, now destroyed by the flood. Hoseok, in his modern clothes, represents a person from the future, walking in the place where Heaven was once on Earth.
Yoongi is also a modern-day person from the future. He's in a Biblical times temple, not physically, but in spirit, through reading the Bible. The ppl in the pews symbolize God's people of all nations worshipping together. In the timeline of this MV, Jesus hasn't been born yet.
Now Taehyung & the little blindfolded girl are standing in front of a large wall with closed gates. What could the gates be guarding? We are going to assume that these are the gates to Heaven. They are locked right now, redemption isn't possible as Jesus isn't born yet.
Jimin's scene appears many times, as he desperately waits for the boy to play his drum. Now for the 1st time, the drummer boy finally hit his drum. Suddenly, the gates of Heaven open & JK's awakened. The drumming was certainly powerful! Why is that & why was Jimin waiting on him?
That's because the boy in the MV is a metaphor for the boy in the Christmas song, "Little Drummer Boy," which sings about a poor boy playing the drum for baby Jesus at His birth. So now that Jesus is born into the world, salvation and reaching Heaven are possible again.
Going back to Tae, since he represents the Savior, the little innocent girl represents God's people, the pure of heart, who will inherit His kingdom. The Savior then removes our blindfolds, as the gates of Heaven open up and become possible for us again.
Now that Jesus saved us and opened our eyes, we can be free from sin and have knowledge of right & wrong, no longer blinded by the world. And thus, leading us to Heaven with Him.
"I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." John 14:6
Going back to Jungkook, he seems to have found the perfect spot for baptism!
He goes into the lake & lowers his thorn-bound wrists.
"Repent & be baptized... in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit" - John 14:6
Happening simultaneously, the guys are now back together (minus JK) and they brought more people with them to the gates of Heaven. The dove Jin thought was dead came back to life, and now he sets the dove free! The Holy Spirit is flying out into the world!
Just as the Holy Spirit is released, JK comes out of the water, rebirthed & transformed!
"Then the 7th angel blew his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven, saying, “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord... he shall reign forever” Revelation 11:15-18
Now that the 7th trumpet sounded off its alarm, the gates of Hell, along with Heaven, are now open. This means it's time for this Earth to die once & for all, and for the New Earth to be born. The next scene has dark clouds, a storm is brewing on Earth, and fire eating it all up.
"The trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised" 1 Cor 15:52. Since the dead are resurrected, Judgment Day is here. A Crown of Thorns is nailed on top of the structure behind everyone, a reminder that Jesus conquered death. A battle is brewing but God and His angels will win it.
We've reached the final scene. The trees all bloom & turn green, death is defeated. JK is reunited with his people. We see NJ/Noah with his fist in the air victorious, signaling to everyone who's alive in Christ, from Biblical times to modern times, to move onward, towards Heaven
Mountains, in the Bible, are usually where God comes down to meet his people. You can see a streak of light shining through the clouds and onto the mountain top, signaling that God will once again be reunited with His people in Heaven. All is well.
1 Thess 4:16-17
