A few nights ago I shared with you the story of Dr. Peter Bryce, the man who after 250 years of residential schools in Canada, was the 1st man to tell the truth and expose what rez schools were doing to Aboriginal children (1907) by way of submitted report to the Canadian gov.
The Gov hid the report and fired Bryce and the system carried on...

And.

Did you know in 1884 he was the 1st Dr. in Ontario to write public health legislation, it was adopted by all Provinces and even some states in the US?
We have clean drinking water, septic systems & even
mandated vaccination programs because of his work and legislation, even today.

He moved to the Federal gov in 1904 & became the head of public health Indian affairs...

And the rest is history.

We buried this man's great legacy, maybe the greatest ever Canadian cuz he told
the truth about abuse, neglect, malnutrition & death at Canadian residential schools.

We don't even teach his storyđź’”
When we think we've progressed as a society because highways and McDonalds, look at LTC & essential workers today & see the core value we still hold.

We've never put people 1st.

Only look to capitalize on their suffering.

And hide it.

This is still who we are.
