On this May Day, International Worker's Day, Justin Trudeau and the "progressive" Canadian government are commemorating by tearing up the constitutionally-protected right to strike, and openly strikebreaking against dock workers at the port of Montreal.
The great unionist Michel Chartrand once said "The labour movement was born illegal, it grew up illegal, and it should continue to live on the margins of a legality which favours a minority to the detriment of a majority."

The minority he referenced, to be clear, is the wealthy
A year into a brutal pandemic, with governments on every level sending working people to die while the rich stay home and shelter, the nature of class relations in this country couldn't be clearer.

There is a class war going on in this country, and the rich are on the offensive.
It doesn't need to be this way. On May Day, we celebrate the historic and ongoing resistance of working people, and the vision for a better world contained in that struggle.

Another world is possible, but we're going to have to fight like hell for it. Happy May Day, everyone.
