I have talked to a number of Black female artists (writers, speakers, vocalists, bakers and makers) who are out here making it happen but could really use three things for free99:
1. Half a day with a marketing company to think through business strategy. Social media strategy? Newsletter or not? Patreon or not? Defining the brand. What I do and I don’t do. Pricing. Goals. A roadmap.
2. Content creation space. Most of us are doing our best at home + public spaces. Every so often we can afford to rent a space on Airbnb for a specific project. But how lovely it would be for Black women to utilize a space with all kinds of backgrounds to batch create content.
3. Video editing. It’s one thing to shoot the content. It’s a whole other thing to grab the best moments, add music or graphics and make it all look cohesive.
If ever I can put together a conference for Black women creatives, this is what it would be. Forget the inspirational speeches- tools, tools, tools. That’s what I want for my friends, my people... (myself!) 🙃
