An NFL Draft thread that is needed.

The #sportsperformance coaching world loves #NFLDraft training.

I did too, and had success.

Congrats to the speed & strength coaches who ran combine prep programs

But TOO MANY PEOPLE who contribute are never talked about... 1/13
My most talked about athletes were the 1st round picks who would always be 1st round picks unless I F#?/ed them up. 2/13
We did contribute be helping them optimize their skills and be at their best when it counted...but we weren’t changing their true athleticism in 3-10 weeks 3/13
Some of the biggest contributors are the PTs, ATCs, DCs, and all #sportsmedicine staff who can’t publicize their work

Our greatest wins were players we had to rehab aggressively to get the a shot at the dream job, or who had to “get” through medical without being flagged. 4/13
Much of our best work wasn’t the stars or record setters. It was improving a mid round guy, or impacting a perception.

Sometimes we had to sacrifice some speed in a fast guy to make him stronger & bigger to address team perceptions when teams already knew he was fast. 5/13
There’s the nutritionists, dietitians and coaches helping players change behavior and body composition for the cattle call of the weigh in INDY. 6/13
There are some players who are most impacted by sports psychologists who help them prepare for things that aren’t football.

And communication coaches who help players ace interviews with some of the most insane “job interview” questions you can imagine. 7/13
And the #NFLsportsagents can have the biggest positive or negative impact on guiding these players in all these choices and so much more.

....but let’s acknowledge the teal team that got the players here... 8/13
The college staff who did all the things above for YEARS not weeks, the #collegestrengthcoach who helped them develop physically.

I laugh when people would “congratulate” me a players performance. Yes I helped, but their college strength coach contributed for years 9/13
...on that note, we still have a player with the record for bench press reps at the combine.

I had a really good team to peak him for that event and teach strategy & speed

...but if the player wasn’t strong already and had years of work on it, that never happens 10/13
How about actually thinking about every #footballcoach who helped the player develop? After all it’s football skill that’s putting them in this position. 11/13
There are parents, extended family, and others around who help make it all possible in acts big and small that get a player to the NFL Draft. 12/13
So congrats to all the speed & strength coaches who helped a young player pursue their dream.

I know many of your biggest successes won’t be talked about.

Stay humble and keep serving your clients well. We never do this alone. 13/13
