Continuing my contrarian hot streak. Started The Wire again. It's good.
When I first saw The Wire nearly a decade ago, I thought Jimmy McNulty was the coolest, most romantic idealist in the world. I now understand that he's a massive asshole.
I’m halfway through S2 of The Wire. Everyone always talks about how intricately serialized this show is. And that’s all well and good, but the real praiseworthy element of the program is how it has so many things going simultaneously. I don’t mean that it has many storylines.
I mean that in many scenes, you see different characters dealing with completely different internal journeys as they deal with whatever exterior event has brought them together. It’s remarkable writing, directing, and acting.
