Haringey Council's head of housing @Emina_ibrahim
tweeted on 23 April that the high risk of #asbestos in our Noel Park flat was "deeply concerning".

The risk was identified in 2019 but @homes4haringey
only notified me in March 2021, and only because I specifically asked.

Emina raised the matter "urgently" with @homes4haringey & was assured she would get a response by 27 April.

We're still waiting for that response.

In fact, ever since March we've been waiting for HfH to explain why they sat on the #asbestos report for over a year.

By yesterday the urgent #asbestos issue had apparently dropped off Emina's list of priorities.

Instead, she was urgently having a capuccino in Shoreditch.

Hours later, more survey results were hand-delivered through our front door, just before the Bank Holiday weekend...

The report says the #asbestos in our bathroom pod could become exposed to the elements.

The pod is therefore "far beyond safe" & is in fact "potentially hazardous".

Why? Because ever since it was built in the 1970s, @haringeycouncil has neglected it.

We're not alone. Other #NoelPark leaseholders are facing a similar asbestos risk through no fault of their own.

When we bought our flats, we were given no #asbestos reports by @homes4haringey.

Why? Because none had ever been done - or if they had, they were kept quiet.

The #asbestos scandal reflects a wider problem with @haringeycouncil.

It wants to bankrupt leaseholders to pay for its decades of neglect, while dodging responsibility for the resulting health risks.

When will it stop punishing us & create the quality homes it boasts of?
