A thread on why liking a villian doesnt mean you condone their actions(aka being a apologist for them.) This will not go into the apologist debate over c!dream, c!quackity, vilbur, etc.etc.
The reason fandoms always seem to love villains, is because the villains do and/or represent things that they would want to see, but not necessarily want to experience irl. This is why people like horror games and movies, its things that are dangerous in a controled environment+
+so that they can experience it but not be actually hurt. This plays into how liking a character does not mean you are a apologist for them,(aka condone their actions.) You can know a character is shit, but you dont think the actions they do+
+are okay. You can find a villian interesting(partly for backstory, arcs, and all that, and partly because of the reasons I have already listed), but know the actions they do are very very bad. I am sick and tired of people thinking that people condone c!dreams actions+
+when they just enjoy his character. now of course there ARE c!dream apologists, but I'm not getting into that today. This thread isnt to be rude or mean, just to point out something in fan culture (mostly dsmp.)
